Teenite : Surrender

Image

The event:  Teenite, is a chance to build one another up outside of school and remember who we are in Christ. A time to reflect on the gifts He has given us and how to be better equipped for the work HE has for us to do.

Object Lesson : We played a game. The first person begins writing as quick as they can 1 to 100 on a piece of paper while the other person next to them tries to roll the hot number on the dice. As soon as the number on the dice is rolled, the roller grabs the pencil and begins to write on their paper the numbers 1 to 100 while the next person begins to pursue the hot number on the dice so that they can take the pencil and begin writing numbers. This continues until the first player reaches 100.

The Message :

Jesus had to lay down His life to do the will of the Father. There was a design and a purpose for Him to die on the cross and if He would not have surrendered and obeyed the Father, the gift of salvation would have been lost.

There are many times in life we may be pursuing a goal. We may even be working so hard towards that goal that we get excited to see that we are finally seeing the end result in our grasp. Only to have the plan shift and change on us. We must be willing, no matter how excited we are for something to happen, to surrender what we hold in our hand to the Lord. As much as it is tempting to hold on to whatever it is we are pursuing, we must be willing to lay down our goals for the purposes of Gods. There are many opportunities in our lives to surrender, the question is…. will we do it?

Challenge this day my friends: As you spend time praying and seeking this week, ask the Lord to allow His will to be done in your life. Be willing to surrender what you think should happen for what HIS plan is.

You only have so much time in a day, I believe it is much better used when we give the day to the Lord and let Him use it for His purpose. He gets much more done than I.

Luke 22:42-

“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
